The King has been on really good form this year - I’m told his engagements are pretty much back to his pre-cancer levels.

Courtiers had saved Fridays for him to rest, ever since his cancer treatment started in February 2024.

But although he’s still receiving treatment (thought to be immunotherapy), doctors are very pleased with his progress.

Besides having a proper holiday in the Highlands (he loves to fish and paint), he will continue with state business.

He will host a number of people at Balmoral, including the obligatory weekend with new Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his wife Marie-France van Heel.
